Two Speeds in Today’s Media World – Fast and Dead

PilmerPR has spoken out and written about the movement towards online and social media, away from print. The Boston Herald talked first about canceling their print edition and the Christian Science Monitor beat them to the punch. The Tribune (Chicago Tribune & Los Angeles Times) filing bankruptcy is one more step in that evolution. Print subscriptions are down and online are up. Newspapers must evolve to stay relevant. According to Michael Levine in his book Guerilla PR 2.0, there are two speeds for media in 2008, Fast and Dead.

This fast moving trend is one reason PR savvy companies need more than a publicist, they need senior public relations counsel and customized public relations packages.
